Villa Park is a small, quiet city surrounded mostly by the City of Orange, with large lots and many families who have lived in the same house for decades. Many families we meet want their loved one to stay home, and hospice is designed to make that possible. Families also feel better knowing what happens if symptoms become too hard to manage at home.
Maxcare Hospice is a Vietnamese American family-owned hospice based in Westminster. We’ve cared for Orange County families since 2011, and Villa Park is part of our regular service area.

Four kinds of hospice care
Medicare’s hospice benefit includes four types of care. In plain words:
- Routine home care. Regular visits wherever your loved one lives. This is the most common.
- Continuous home care. More hours of nursing at home for a short crisis, so your loved one can stay home.
- General inpatient care. A short stay in a facility when pain or symptoms can’t be managed at home.
- Inpatient respite care. A short stay of up to 5 days so the family caregiver can rest.
Short inpatient stays
Medicare’s hospice booklet says plans of care can include short-term inpatient care for pain and symptom management. If the hospice team decides inpatient care is needed, the hospice makes the arrangements. If a family goes to the hospital for the terminal illness without the hospice arranging it, they might have to pay the entire cost. That’s the main reason we ask families to call us first. The goal of an inpatient stay is to get comfortable and, when possible, to go back home.
Villa Park questions
Which hospitals are close to Villa Park? Families here usually use hospitals in the City of Orange, such as UCI Health – Orange and Providence St. Joseph Hospital, or Kaiser Permanente’s Anaheim Medical Center. We name them only as nearby hospitals; Maxcare isn’t affiliated with any of them.
Our house has stairs and a long driveway. Can hospice still work at home? Usually, yes. Hospice can provide medical equipment such as a hospital bed, often set up on the main floor. Our nurse will look at the home with you.
Where can caregivers find local support? Villa Park doesn’t run its own senior center. The nearest on the county’s 2026 list is the Orange Senior Center in neighboring Orange, which offers transportation and a lunch café. The Orange County Office on Aging can also help.

Working with fiduciaries and care managers
In some Villa Park families, a professional fiduciary, attorney or geriatric care manager helps with a parent’s affairs. With the family’s permission, we coordinate with them, so decisions about care, paperwork and payments stay in step and nobody is left out of the loop.
